Best advice for new leaders in 10 words or less: Become a leader, not a dictator. Encourage ideas from your team.

What recent project, transaction or accomplishment are you most proud of? Our most recent accomplishment was to be named by Inc Magazine to their Inc 5,000 fastest growing companies in America for 2023.

What was one of your biggest challenges as a leader and how did you overcome it? Implementing systems to a team that was not familiar with them, and some who were resistant to change. We overcame this by bringing in an outside voice, a consultant, who brought a fresh voice to a familiar topic. The best team members embraced the new direction, while those stuck in their ways departed the organization. Our team is much stronger and more productive since then.

What makes this nominee an Industry Leader? “Throughout his career, Matt has consistently confronted and overcome challenges in ways that not only improved his business but also enhanced client experience and employee conditions. He thinks creatively and is not afraid to try something different from his peers, which tends to help him stand out from his competition.” - Nicole Hales, President at PRfirst.
