2022 Women in Commercial Real Estate: Shannon McCarthy, Timberline Construction

Shannon McCarthy
Director of Marketing
Timberline Construction

What advice would you offer to women getting into the CRE industry?
There is so much to learn and that knowledge is power. Having worked for architecture firms, commercial real estate firms and now a construction firm, the industry is full of smart people and an abundance of opportunity. Soak up as much as you can from the people around you – inside and outside your organization. Understanding the full picture and all of the multiple disciplines that make up the commercial real estate industry will help you succeed.

Are you part of any CRE organizations? How have they helped your professional development?
I am currently a member of NAIOP, ULI, SMPS and CREW. Networking is such an important aspect of personal and professional development, as you are only as strong as the people and team around you. A great network will present you with valuable opportunities and allow you to thrive while developing meaningful relationships.
