2022 Women in Commercial Real Estate: Dimitra Murphy, Daddy Jones; Commonwealth Properties

Dimitra Murphy

Daddy Jones; Commonwealth Properties

What advice would you offer to women getting into the CRE industry?
Give thought to what organization and people you will work with. Find an organization which appreciates and values attention to detail, and quality work. And find a group with strong commercial experience. Clients in general, and property management firms in particular, value this greatly.

What trends will dominate your industry in the coming months?
People will be looking for “flex” space and opportunities. As we continue working our way through the changes that COVID-19 has necessitated, there will be greater demand for flexibility in working environments concerning use of space. Additionally, more companies will be looking to own their space rather than rent or lease. Doing so gives them greater control over their destiny in uncertain times. It is easier for a business person to negotiate directly with a bank or lending institution than a landlord.
