2022 Women in Construction: Kaylee Pingree, Project Accountant at Jewett Construction

Kaylee Pingree

When you’re not busy, what is your go-to book or podcast to help you unwind? Currently, I am obsessed with Bravey by Olympic athlete Alexi Pappas. Alexi lays it all out there; good, bad, painfully embarrassing family details, and incredibly personal struggles. Her strength to overcome obstacles in her life is beyond empowering. There is almost no topic left untouched, including her wild depression after the Olympics. If you’ve ever accomplished a huge goal and been left feeling lost afterward, if you’re a runner, if your family is not perfect, or if you just love raw authentic non-fiction, I can’t recommend this book enough.

What tips or advice would you offer to other women who are considering entering the construction industry? There are plenty of opportunities in construction for women other than swinging a hammer! If you’re great at organizing and tracking things you can be a project coordinator. If you’re in AP, AR, or general accounting and wish you could be involved in all of it instead of just one department, come on in! If you’ve been in a trade and have spent time on site, you should absolutely consider growing into a project engineer or assistant project manager. The industry is one big family, full of passion, tons of opportunity, and moving at Mach 1. You’ll never stop learning.
