2021 Women in Construction: Keirsten Deegan, Principal, Ci Design

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? I am most proud of my role in developing and expanding Ci Design’s Science & Technology (S&T) practice group and managing groundbreaking projects for the life science industry, both of which contributed to my promotion to Principal this year. The firm has seen a lot of growth in the S&T market, and it has been great to watch the team come together to successfully deliver projects that make a difference in the world.

Why should women consider a career in construction? As an architect, I enjoy the abstract nature of design followed by the concrete act of construction. It is truly satisfying to overcome challenges and see a design come to life. There are also amazing opportunities to learn and grow within the industry. Each project brings with it a chance to learn about something completely new, from intricate mechanical system design to unique client workflows, and working in different project roles allows you to gain insight into different aspects of a project.
