What led you to your current profession? As I was pursuing a master’s in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology I got a part-time job as an admin for an apartment building. After working there for a few months I was offered a job on the development and construction side of their company. I took the job to help support myself through grad school and before I knew it, I had fallen in love with construction. The curiosity that drew me to apply to medical school was being satisfied in a different way learning about the moving parts and intricate details that go into the construction of a building.

What are some of the benefits of being a mentor or having a mentor? In the construction/real estate industry there is always something new to learn as technology expands and new ideas arise. I believe being and/or having a mentor is crucial to continue the spread of this knowledge and ensuring access to different ideas and resources. It can be easy to get stuck in one way of thinking and mentorships help promote change and ingenuity by exposing one other to different processes.
