2020 Ones to Watch: Greg Stewart, Senior Vice President at Jewett Construction

Which project, deal, or transaction was the “game-changer” in the advancement of your career? Several years ago at Jewett, we committed to diversifying the industries we work in on a regular basis. We have had great success in growing our business within the advanced manufacturing, distribution, aerospace, and cannabis industries. Completing multiple successful projects within these target markets has been a “game-changer” for Jewett. Our success in diversifying our business has allowed our associates to grow their careers in parallel paths with our company wide growth.

Who or what inspires you? The individuals I have the privilege to work with at Jewett Construction provide daily inspiration. Our team’s ability to work as a unified group makes coming to work fulfilling each and every day. Being surrounded by a group of individuals who are continually growing their professional careers is inspirational and exciting to be part of.

How do you contribute to your community or your profession? Jewett performs projects throughout all of New England within various industries. Having a large geographic reach allows us to have a positive impact on numerous communities throughout New England. We take pride in not only providing our clients with the Jewett Experience, but also having a positive impact on the towns and cities we work in. We have recently completed multiple projects that have brought new life to existing historical buildings, mill buildings, and areas in need of rejuvenation which provides a significant benefit to those who live and work within these areas. Additionally, Jewett has always been active within the non-profit community performing 1-2 projects per year for a non-profit organization. We are currently wrapping up the Center for Wildlife’s brand new facility in Cape Neddick, ME. 

What led you to your current profession? The direct correlation between hard work and positive results in the construction industry is one of the main reasons I was attracted to the business. Additionally, the construction industry is unique in the sense that it takes an entire team of individuals with varying areas of expertise to work together in order to produce a successful project. That “team” mentality and opportunity to collaborate and experience shared success with others is ultimately what makes working in construction fulfilling.
