2019 Women in Real Estate: Jennifer Alexis, DPS Group Global

Jennifer Alexis

Project Engineer

DPS Group Global

Who inspired you to join the CRE industry? By chance, it was a process – not a person – that inspired me to do what I do. I recently renovated my first home, and I thoroughly loved the process and project management of it all. I’m very detail oriented and love working with people, and the finished product made it all worthwhile. The process inspired me to join DPS and work with pharmaceutical clients to design and engineer laboratory facilities that produce medicines and treatments to truly help patients who need them. I am fortunate to apply my engineering and project management talents to projects that better people’s lives.

What recent project or transaction are you most proud of? The renovation of my first home, a 2,500 s/f Colonial built in 1858. The previous family lived there for 40 years and hoped that new owners would love it as they did. The house needed a lot of work, and I had never done a renovation before. I leveraged my professional skills of managing contractors and put in “sweat equity” on many aspects of the home. After an extensive renovation, the home is beautiful. When I sent photos to the previous owner, she loved it! That made me so proud.

What is your favorite motivational quote and who was it by? “You are your best thing.” – Toni Morrison. This quote really speaks to me because it emphasizes the importance of individual authenticity in what makes us all unique and original. When you strive to be your best, it encourages others to be their best as well. I try to radiate my own light and positivity into the world around me.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.

The 2024 CRE markets: “The Ups” (industrial) and “The Downs” (Boston class B/C office) - by Webster Collins
