2019 Annual Review: Daria Bukesova of R E Dinneen Architects

R E Dinneen Architects

What was your greatest professional accomplishment in 2019?
It has been my goal for this year to broaden our horizons and participate in more industry events. We have successfully achieved that by participating in the IIDA Design Awards as well as the IIDA fashion show. We have been attending the IIDA fashion show for several years now, but not participated until 2019. I am proud to have led the team to our fashion show debut. Everyone on the team worked hard for months to make it happen. It gave our company new exposure and brought us all closer together within the company and also with our industry partners. We will definitely participate every year now. Same intention for the Design Awards. We did not win anything yet, but a good goal for 2020.

What was your most notable project, deal, or transaction in 2019?
I feel very lucky to have been part of the design team for the Dicerna Lexington expansion project. I was involved from the preliminary stages of design, finishes selection and all the way until the move in. Our team was given a lot of design freedom to create a truly unique space.

What are your predictions for commercial real estate in 2020?
I think Boston has been and will continue to be a very busy market, however the space is very limited within the city itself as well as in Cambridge. I think many companies in 2020 will continue to move to areas right outside of Boston to avoid heavy traffic and gain more in space.

Investing in a falling rate environment - by Harrison Klein

Long-term interest rates have fallen by 100 basis points, and the market is normalizing. In December of 2022 I wrote an article about investing in a high interest rate, high inflation market. Since then, inflation has cooled off, and the Fed has begun lowering their funds rate.

The 2024 CRE markets: “The Ups” (industrial) and “The Downs” (Boston class B/C office) - by Webster Collins

The industrial markets have never been stronger. What has happened is that the build out of Devens with new high-tech biotech manufacturing with housing to service these buildings serves as the connector required to really make the I-495 West market sizzle. Worcester has been the beneficiary
